The Helsinki Chamber Choir conducted by Nils Schweckendiek performs a new work for chamber choir ‘Katukaupunki’ [City of Streets] ,collectively written by Ilkka Hammo, Juhani Junkala and Lauri Supponen. The feature-length odyssey is set to the texts by Silja Järventausta, specially written for the project. Throughout the year, the composers have had the rare opportunity to dwell into possible readings and interpretations of the text together with the author. The text takes place in contemporary Helsinki. This evening will be unique glimpse into collective writing: the composers have complemented and continued each others work in symbiosis. The work forms one extensive and continuous whole, which illuminates the human voice and Finnish language in a versatile manner.
