The Soli concert (6th February) buzzes with the sounds of contemporary music from Finland, Venezuela and France. The programme features solo works, duos and a trio, and four works will receive their world premières.

Coloratura soprano Piia Komsi will perform duos by herself and together with gamba virtuoso Markku Luolajan-Mikkola. Together they will perform Lotta Wennäkoski’s work Procis. By herself, Komsi will perform a new work by Heinz-Johan Hofmann for coloratura-soprano-cellist: a unique work written for a unique musician. Pianist Kristiina Junttu’s solo performance will include première performances of three new impromptus by Seppo Pohjola, Lauri Kilpiö and Venezuelan composer José Baroni. These works form part of a larger concert programme of impromptus that Junttu has been performing for a number of years. Together with an array of friends, violinist Pasi Eerikäinen will take responsibility for the French element of the programme. Eerikäinen and pianist Emil Holmström will perform Bruno Mantovani’s work All’ ungarese for violin and piano. The concert also features a performance of Mark André’s String Trio, in which Pasi will be joined by viola player Iiro Rajakoski and cellist Eeva Rysä.
